This event resulted in the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a luggage theft where a suspected irritant spray resulted in harm at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, authorities have stated.

This legal action stems from an investigation into an attack at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two female travelers had their suitcases taken after exiting a car park lift, authorities reported.

A three-year-old girl was one of the people hurt during the incident. Several persons were taken to a medical facility and were eventually allowed to go home.

This event – which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism – led to train delays and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
